Biography

DAMIR VIŠIČ

Born on 19.02.1967 in Maribor.
In 1990 he began studying Indian classical music with prof. Moni Das by playing sarod. In period from 1995 to 1999 he had finished the second year of Academy for dance and music PRACHEN KALA KENDRA in New Delhi and after that he studied at Academy BHARATIYA KALA KENDRA as being a student of prof. Biswayit Roy Chowdhury. He gratuaded in 2001.

GROUP PERFORMANCES AND DIFFERENT PROJECTS with bands:

  • SAGAR ( Damir Višič - sarod, Igor Bezget - guitar, Vasko Atanasovski - flute and soprano saxophone, Nikola Matošič - contrabass, Nino Mureškič - rig, kanjira, frame drum and Borut Žerdoner - tabla ). Performances: Okarina Ethno Festival - Bled, Lent Festival - Maribor, Festival Ljubljana, Valaski Spaliček - Czech Republic and on all major stages in Slovenia.
  • YAM DAMIL ( Damir Višič - sarod, Nino Mureškič - kanjira, frame drums, Primož Smrekar - keyboard, sampler, Borut Žerdoner - tabla ). Performances: Lent Festival - Maribor, Valaski Spaliček - Czech Republic, Computer festival - Velenje and on all major stages in Slovenia.
  • MAHA SHAKTI ( international musical team - Austria, Croatia, Turkey, India, Slovenia )

CONCERTS WITH COMMENTARY:

Lectures and live concerts in primary and secondary schools with the program entiled From old instruments till Indian classical music, organized by Musical youth of Slovenia.
