Virutous and powerful duo Vasko Atanasovski and Simone Zanchini, universal musicians, composers, interlacing in ethno, jazz, classical, folk and avantgarde music, are presenting duo with original music.

 

The musicians started to collaborate in 2001 when Simone Zanchini joined Vasko Atanasovski in Adrabesa Quartet, together with important musicians Roberto Bartoli from Italy and Krunoslav Levacic from Croatia.

 

The repertoire include compositions of both musicians, that with connecting severe structures with moments of total freedom, faithfully follows the concept of polirhythms and knits various musical origins with improvisation.

 

“…by playing and discovering these compositions we became aware that this duo creates a special sound that goes beyond the sound of individual instruments; it’s a sound inside sound. This pleasant surprise gave us the inspiration for further work although we come from very different cultural environement and we have different musical background and education.

 

In dialog of typical rhythms of Macedonia where are the roots of Slovenian musician and swing and groove of an eclectic Italian vagabond, rise a polirhytmic that’s explosive and funny musical mixure.

 

 

Vasko Atanasovski is one of Slovene most creative composers and musicians. He published more original albums that are, without exception, placed on a domestic jazz pedestal: “Akupunktura” (V.A.2001), “Heat Flower” (Extraplatte Wien 2002), “Suite de passion” (Goga 2003), “Tanatos Eros” (Goga 2005), “Altdorf Live” (V.A. 2006), "Attic dance" (JBR2007) and “Live from The old power station”. He has got a lot of positive critics for his work home and abroad. He has performed on important festivals and happenings as: Town Hall (New York), European week of culture in India (New Delhi, Bombay...), Alpentoene (CH), Xong festival (A, I, CH), Cankarjev dom, Druga godba, Porgy&Bess (A), JAzz&Wine of Peace (I), Cinema Nova (B), Rasa (HOL), Euro Jazz Festival 2004 (Athens), RingRing (YU), Mediawave (H), NoJazz Fest (CRO), Crossroads (I), MIDEM (Cannes, F)...

He has collaborated with musicians as: Marc Ribot (USA), Michel Godard (F), Simone Zanchini (Ita), Greg Cohen (USA), Tamara Obrovac (Cro),  Zoltan Lantos (H), Bratko Bibic, Xu Fengxia (China), Wilbert de Joode (HOL), Ewald Oberleitner (A), Karmina Silec & Carmina Slovenica, Zlatko Kaucic…
Since 1997 he is mostly dedicated to his own projects; so he is a founder or co-founder of many musical groups and projects and also composer for chamber, orchestral and choir ensembles, dance, puppet and theatre performances. He has collaborated with choreographers and directors: Vito Taufer, Brane Potocan, Jernej Lorenci, Mojca Horvat, Jasna Knez, Matevz Gregoric, Miha Golob, Peter Bostjancic...

 

 

Simone Zanchini is considered one of the most interesting and innovative accordion’s player in Europe. His musical research pass through the borders of contemporary music, acoustic and electronics sound experiment, and more other contaminations mixed together.

The result is a very special and personal approaching with the material of improvisation Eclectic artist, performing an intensive concert schedule with groups of various musical styles including improvisation, contemporary jazz, and classical music.

He has performed in numerous Italian festivals: (Clusone Jazz, Umbria Jazz, Tivoli Jazz, Berchidda Jazz, Sant’Anna Arresi, Barga Jazz, Mara Jazz, Vignola Jazz, Ravenna Festival, Rossini opera Festival , Teggiano Jazz...) and in many important international festivals in France, Austria, Germany, England, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonian, Spain, England, Tunisia, Lebanese, India, Russian and Japan. Simone has collaborated with many musicians of international fame: Thomas Clausen, Gianluigi Trovesi, Javier Girotto, Paolo Fresu, Marco Tamburini, Massimo Manzi, Bruno Tommaso, Ettore Fioravanti, Mario Marzi, Michele Rabbia, Giovanni Maier,Tamara Obrovac, Krunoslav Levacic, Vasko Atanasovski, Antonello Salis, Han Bennink, Art Van Damme.

He is regularly performing with many groups of different kind of music. Since 1999 Simone is accordion player in the “Ensemble Strumentale Scaligero” of the Theatre LA SCALA in Milano, with this group he make tournèe everywhere in the world. Recently he recorded two new CDs called: From Art to Marocco and Better Alone.
