Zoran Likar (1971) from Slovenia has been exploring photography as a visual artist for 6 years. This exhibition of pictures is his first one to be shown on Internet. Zoran Likar travels all over Europe and documents things that we all notice yet they remain invisible in our eyes. With his camera (that he is still getting to know as an organism of operation) he tries to create a mediator which could pass the language of the object to us, which makes us understand the feelings. The artist searches the wanted feelings in the ambient of the nature and in the moment of silence - between the sunset and night and between the night and the sunrise. ''The appearance of the sun means, also the appearance of the shadow, which makes the things look different,'' says the author.
Barthes said it is better to raise our head and close our eyes, in order to see the picture perfectly. As Janouch told Kafka: ''the sight is a necessary condition for the image.''
Kafka replied: '' we take photos about things, in order to cost them out of our spirit. My novels are the way to close our eyes. ''
''The photography must be silent,'' continues Barthes. ''There do exist thunder pictures, which I don't like, it's not about being discrete, it's about the music.'' We reach absolute subjectivity only in the moment of silence in the silent trying (closing our eyes lets the image to speak in silence).
The picture touches me: ''If I take it through the everyday bla-bla-bla: ''technique'', '' reality '', ''report '', ''art'', etc: nothing to close our eyes, letting the detail got out an the surface of the affective consciousness. Zoran Likar searches for the silence (inspiration) in the moving images of horror movies.
He creates this silence with taking away the power from the movie, laying in the moves of the images. We can't close our eyes while watching a movie; we wouldn't see the same image again. That's why a movie is a ''blind-field '' and not a fixed frame and it doubles the partial vision and still keeps on living, still pulling and pushing to other views.
As photography, it cuts the '' constitutive '' style and this is where the surprise is melancholia. So taking pictures of just one moving images wouldn't be enough, but it is necessary to value the feeling in a new way, the feeling that the photographer got after seeing a crowd of images and a copy into another totally different media.
